The newspaper article ‘Rote learning was a winner’ describes recent educational research which investigated effectiveness of Rote Learning as a teaching method. The reality shows that Rote learning is still a tremendously effective teaching methods.

The Newcastle University team spent three years monitoring the progress of 2000 teenagers in 17 schools in the north of England, and they came to these conclusions. First, surprisingly, they did not consider the academic is boring. Then ‘teacher-centred ’ education is still alive and producing results. At last Rote Learning is significant method to make children pass O-level and CSEs.

Thus the researchers insisted the best teachers had always mixed the techniques to match the needs of pupils.
